Hello guest
Your basket is empty
In this Firewood Fuel MK's blog we will discuss how to properly store firewood, including different options for storage, tips on keeping it dry and what to do if it gets wet.

Proper storage is essential for maintaining the quality of firewood and ensuring it is ready to burn when you need it. At Firewood Fuel MK, we provide pre-cut firewood in bags and even offer a log stacking service, so you can enjoy the benefits of firewood without any hassle.

Here are some tips on how to properly store firewood:

Dry & Ventilated
Firewood should be stored in a dry area that is well-ventilated to allow air to circulate. This helps to prevent the wood from becoming damp and reduces the risk of mold and insects.

Elevation
Keep the wood off the ground by using a pallet, bricks or other materials. This helps to prevent moisture from the ground from getting absorbed into the wood.

Coverage
Use a tarp or other type of cover to protect the wood from rain and snow. However, be sure to leave the sides open to allow air to circulate.

Log Store
If you don't have a suitable area indoors to store your firewood, consider using a log store outside. These are designed to keep your firewood dry and protected from the elements, while still allowing air to circulate.

Shed / Garage
If you have a shed or garage, this can also be a suitable place to store firewood. Just be sure to keep the wood off the ground and to allow air to circulate.

What to do when firewood gets wet?

If your firewood gets wet, it can still be used, but it may take longer to dry out and may not burn as efficiently. Here are some tips on what to do when your firewood gets wet:

Move the wood - If your firewood is outside and has gotten wet, move it to a dry area as soon as possible to prevent further moisture from getting absorbed.

Stack the wood - If possible, stack the wood in a dry, well-ventilated area, so it can start to dry out. You can also use a fan or similar to move the air and help speed up the drying process.

Cover the wood - Use a tarp or other type of cover to protect the wood from further moisture until it has dried out completely.

At Firewood Fuel MK, we understand the importance of proper firewood storage and the impact it has on the quality of the wood. That's why we offer pre-cut firewood in bags and a log stacking service, to ensure that your firewood is properly stored and ready to burn when you need it. Whether you choose to store your firewood in a log store, shed or garage, be sure to follow these tips to keep your firewood dry and ready to use
